Blind Label Cigar is a cigar content and community site run from Canada. We don't sell anything and we don't have accounts or logins. This page covers what happens to your information anyway, because a site can collect a fair amount without ever asking you to sign up. Last updated 3 November 2026.

Visitor identification

This is the part most people don't expect, so it goes first. We run a visitor identification service from DragonFish Communications, which uses a third-party provider, Exact Match Marketing. It attempts to match the device and network you're browsing from against a commercial database and return an email address, along with the page you were on. It runs on every page of this site.

It does not ask you anything and it does not need you to fill in a form. If you have never given us your email address, this can still produce one. Matches are used for marketing contact from DragonFish, not from Blind Label Cigar, and we don't sell what comes back.

It only runs once you've confirmed you're 21 or older on the age screen. Decline that screen, or leave without answering it, and nothing is sent. To opt out entirely, email us at hello@blindlabelcigar.com and we'll have your record suppressed, or block dragonfish.exactmatchmarketing.com in your browser or ad blocker, which stops it before it loads.

Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. That sets cookies and records things like your approximate location, browser, device and the pages you visit. We look at it in aggregate. We don't use it to work out who you are, and we don't run advertising on this site.

What you give us on purpose

The newsletter signup takes your email address and hands it to Beehiiv, which runs the list and sends the issues. Every issue has a one-click unsubscribe and we don't pass the list to anyone.

The contact form takes your name, email, subject and message. One thing worth being straight about: that form currently confirms on screen without delivering anywhere, because the mail service behind it hasn't been connected yet. If you need a reply, email hello@blindlabelcigar.com directly. We'll update this line the day that changes.

Joining the WhatsApp community means joining a WhatsApp group, so your phone number and profile are visible to the other members and to WhatsApp. That group is governed by WhatsApp's own terms, not this page.

Ash, the chat assistant

Ash is an AI assistant, not a person. What you type is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a reply, and if you ask about a cigar we haven't reviewed, Ash may run a web search to answer. We don't store your conversations and they're gone when you close the tab. Your IP address is used briefly to stop one person flooding the service, and for nothing else. Don't type anything into it you wouldn't want leaving your computer.

What your browser stores

Two small things, both kept on your own device and never sent to us. Your answer to the age screen, so you aren't asked on every page, and whether you've dismissed the join bar, which lasts until you close the tab. Clearing your site data removes both and the age screen comes back.

Other services that see your visit

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses. Pages load fonts from Google, podcast artwork from YouTube and Podbean, and newsletter images from Beehiiv, and each of those sees a request from your browser. Links out to cigar makers, social platforms and event sites take you onto their own privacy terms.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask us to delete it or stop using it. If you're in the UK or EU you have those rights under the GDPR too, and in California under the CCPA. Write to hello@blindlabelcigar.com and we'll deal with it within 30 days. You don't need to explain why.

Children

This site is for adults 21 and over and isn't aimed at children. If you believe a child's information has reached us through this site, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we add or remove something that touches your data, this page changes with it rather than afterwards, and the date at the top moves. Questions go to hello@blindlabelcigar.com.
